New York Planet Evolves into a Music, Media and Entertainment Blog
Once an events web site, New York Planet, which featured a popular social calendar has given itself a makeover. Originally a web site for social life, nightclubbing, music, comedy, charitable and adventure events, New York Planet has transformed itself into a central spot for those interested in music, media and entertainment.
“This new focus on music and media will give a better context for users. It can now be a central stop for subscribers looking for new music and information on social media trends,” said Valerie Gurka, founder of New York Planet. ”After a decade of displaying a broad range of social events, the site needed a narrower focus that appeals to the interests of its newest subscriber base.”
The new web site will feature artist interviews, live music shows and other posts about entertainment and media. The site will include all forms of media such as video, audio, photography, articles and an events calendar.
“I started New York Planet in November 2001 as a response to September 11th, to give people something to do with their time and make connections. It was a nice way to tell New Yorkers where social events would be taking place, particularly charity events.” explained Gurka. ”Now, with the addition of facebook for event marketing, most people already receive plenty of information about events on a daily basis. Instead, New York Planet will become a resource for events but with a narrower focus so we can dig deeper.”
